Cinnamon Roll Overnight Oats

Looking for a fast and simple, delicious and balanced breakfast (or lunch) that you can grab right out of the fridge? Allow me to introduce my latest and favorite overnight oats’ recipe using the Equip brand Cinnamon Roll grass-fed beef isolate powder! I love Equip protein powder because it’s clean, meaning it’s free from all things! No gluten, dairy, whey, soy, hormones, antibiotics, fillers, plus no artificial sweeteners and preservatives! Boom. I know clean, grass-fed whey has many health benefits (Paleovalley brand is the best quality, in my opinion), but it just doesn’t work for my body.

Each serving of my cinnamon roll overnight oats has the equivalent of 4 oz of grass-fed beef, which contains both collagen and gelatin and is a complete source of protein. If you’re into counting macros, this overnight oats recipe contains the perfect balance of protein, whole carbs and healthy fats!

I start with Bob’s Red Mill Old Fashioned Regular Rolled Oats. I love the chewy texture! I also prefer them over quick oats as they are less processed and therefore contain more fiber and a lower glycemic index, aka it doesn’t raise your blood sugar as much as quick oats. Some of the health benefits of rolled oats include being high in antioxidants as well as beta-glucan, which is the soluble fiber that helps reduce bad cholesterol (LDL). It helps you feel fuller for longer and helps with the beneficial bacteria in your gut.

I also add ground flax seeds. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been adding ground flax seeds to my recipes. Everything from pancakes to baked oatmeal to brownie bites to smoothies and I even used them as an egg substitute. Flaxseeds are rich in fiber, protein and omega-3’s and may support heart health, improve digestion, lower your diabetes risk and even improve (peri)menopause symptoms!

Next up are hemp seeds! These little gems are a complete source of protein, which is especially important if you’re a vegetarian or maybe you or your children struggle to get enough protein in your day-to-day diet. Hemp seeds (or hearts, as they are sometimes called) are also rich in omega-3’s, fiber, minerals and vitamins. They may help with brain health, boost heart health, as well as reduce inflammation.

I know the protein powder has cinnamon in it, but if you know me at all, I’m slightly obsessed with ceylon cinnamon. I add it to everything, even my coffee. Ceylon cinnamon not only adds a yummy spicy (not hot) flavor, but has so many health benefits, too! It can help reduce inflammation, lower cholesterol as well as improve blood sugar levels. It is rich in antioxidants, which can help protect our body from oxidative stress!

The next two ingredients can be tailored to your preferences. I add walnuts and blueberries for their healthy brain benefits! They may improve cognitive function and slow mental decline while also enhancing memory and overall brain performance. Regular consumption of blueberries has also been linked to improved blood flow to/in your brain. Eating walnuts and blueberries together has been called a brain protection powerhouse. Yes, please! They are both high in fiber, too, which helps with digestion and overall gut health.

I add all the dry ingredients in the order listed, except the blueberries, and stir to combine. I then add the water and stir again until fully combined. After combining, I top with blueberries but wait until the morning to stir them in. You may need to add extra water to combine, whatever your preference is, but I always stir in 1 tablespoon of additional water in the morning!

  • 1/2 cup organic old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 scoop Equip Cinnamon Roll protein powder
  • 1 Tbsp ground flax seed (can sub chia)
  • 1/2 Tbsp hemp seeds
  • 1 Tbsp chopped walnuts
  • Dash of (Cylon) cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup filtered water
  • 1/8 cup blueberries

I use a pint size glass Ball jar to make my overnight oats. I prefer to meal prep over the weekend and make a week’s worth of overnight oats. Nothing beats being able to wake up and reach in the fridge to grab an already prepared optimal nutritional powerhouse breakfast! Enjoy!
